By Enya Bours Over 100 students attended this year’s Oktoberfest, and overall it went well, according to Evelyn Huynh, senior and co-president of German Club. “Everything went really smoothly. We didn’t really have any major issues and a lot of people had fun, which is good,” she explains.
As for attendees, the event seems to have been a success as well. “I would definitely attend Oktoberfest again,” says senior, Jennifer Nguyen. Nancy Nghiem and Alexandrea Cabrera, also both seniors, agree with her. Nguyen and Nghiem have both attended Oktoberfest for all four years of high school, and they agree that this year’s Oktoberfest was “more organized” and “more fun.” They seemed to really enjoy the games, especially the bean bag toss, where participants could potentially win a fish. Many also added that they appreciated the reduced ticket prices while still having the same quality experience. “My favorite part was the food. I really liked how they provided so much food for such a low price of $5,” expresses Nghiem. “The whole atmosphere made it great,” remarks Cabrera. Attendees also had some suggestions for future Oktoberfests. “I hope to see more people and more games that people will be more engaged in,” elaborates Nghiem. “Maybe a live performance but I think that would be too expensive,” adds Cabrera. Huynh explains that next year there could be improvements made on how the event was promoted, but what was important was the fact that the people who participated in the event enjoyed it. “We were short on ticket sales by around thirty people, but as long as the people who attended had fun, that’s what makes it successful.”
