By Mekenzie Burse Christmas in the park is an annual winter event that happens in downtown San Jose. Usually from the last week in November till the first day of January. But this year, it will be cut short, so make sure to enjoy it. Christmas in the Park will end on December 22nd this year, due to a college football game.
More than 500 trees are decorated with bright lights and fun decorations for our amusement. At this time, there is ice skating, hot chocolate, pictures, game booths, rides, meetings with Santa and so much more. Around this time of year, it’s all students are talking about. It is a great place to spend time with your families and friends as well. Anthony Vo, a junior here at Independence High School says, “I like that there are so many different people you see there, families and friends, of all different ethnicity just enjoying their time together.” Spending quality time with loved ones is always important during the holidays, showing up to these events allows you time to stop worrying about school, work, etc. and just having fun and spending time looking at Christmas lights and decorations and drinking hot coco with your peers. Victor Martinez, a student here at Indy, that loves Christmas adds, “I love going to Christmas in the Park, I go every year and usually go with my friends. We go out to dinner first and then walk around looking at all the lights.”
