By Mekenzie Burse Spooky season is a favorite amongst students here at Independence, since it is October, there will be 5 “spooky” netflix movies and TV shows to watch during the season throughout the month. Here's the 1st one:
Number 5. American Horror Story (TV Show) American Horror Story is an American anthology horror, and drama series. Each season is meant to be a self-contained miniseries, which has different settings and characters in each season. As of now, there are 8 seasons to this series. Here are the rankings from less creepy, to scariest, according to the creators of this famous show. (Excluding the newest season #8) 7. Freak Show (Season 4) 6. Roanoke (Season 6) 5. Hotel (Season 5) 4. Coven (Season 3) 3.Cult (Season 7) 2. Murder House (Season 1) 1.Asylum (Season 2) Season 8 title was finally revealed as Apocalypse, for those wondering. In my personal opinion, American Horror Story is a great show to watch if you love being spooked. There are twists and turns, unexpected scenes and pop outs as well. There are also unexplained concepts that the creators made to get their watchers to think why and how the events are happening. In this show, there are real life occurring events too, which makes it 10 times spookier. A personal rating for this TV show would be 5 stars. Take time to watch American Horror Story this spooky season. Guaranteed chills and screams.

By Matthew Valenzuela-Serrano San Jose is a highly populated city that has its fair share of haunted stories. Agnews Insane Asylum, Hicks road, Quimby road, Marsh Road, and most notably, Independence High School. If you are unfamiliar with any of these, here is a quick rundown of each spooky location.
Hicks Road is rumored to be home to a group of satanic albinos. If you drive slowly around the area they will come and chase you off the road. Depending on who is telling the story, they may chase you with weapons, but it seems guaranteed that you’ll be chased. Since the road is mildly long, it’s difficult to pinpoint when and where the albinos live or where they’ll sacrifice you. Junior Kiana Yamat was asked if she had heard of any haunted places around Independence or San Jose. “Yeah, Hellyer House,” she says, but when asked if she knew of the Agnews Insane Asylum she responded with a no. No was a common answer for many of the other haunted places, except for the Independence Theater Yep, if you haven’t heard yet, our own theater is home to a ghostly figure named George. It’s said that he’ll haunt the theater during performances and rehearsals, sabotaging the stage or messing with the performers, but leaving the viewers alone. Senior Alyssa Lucinda had this to say,. “Though there is no documentation of George being a deceased tech student from over two decades ago, all the performing/music arts departments believe that George roams the theater. All theater people acknowledge that he is present when a seemingly empty seat is down. There was a time when someone yelled and the lights began to flicker. But we always greet him and say goodbye to George.” So maybe our ghost is friendly, that remains to be seen, however... |
