By Jordan Atkinson Since Halloween is quickly approaching, the perfect way to ease anticipation for the actual night of the 31st is to get a little spooky beforehand. Since not everybody may have an idea of where the events might be going on around her, I’ve taken the time to do a little bit of research and compiled a list of venues that are welcoming teens to come celebrate and have a good time. Hopefully, some of you will make some use out of this and go out make some memories and possibly even make some new friends. To find tickets, just google the events and they should be pretty easy to find.

By Enya Bours Homecoming season has arrived once again, which means four major events: spirit week, tailgate, the football game, and the dance. This year’s tailgate is filled with a wide variety of food, everything from pasta to dumplings to quesadillas to ice cream. It is attended by the majority of students from all grade levels, eager to check out the diverse cuisines and snacks being offered all in one place.
Although there were fewer clubs participating in tailgate, the food choices offered this year seemed to be “better and more creative,” according to GiaAn Nguyen, a senior. Several customers seem to prefer the way tailgate is this year, with more savory foods than sweet ones. “I love that there are so many options,” expresses Tina Nguyen, a senior. “But my favorite is definitely the nachos from Interact.” A lot of thought has been put behind the foods being sold as well. “Key Club chose to sell bento boxes because we thought it would be cute to sell but also fun to make,” explains Sylvia So, a junior. Alina Tran, a junior and the president of Lights On Trafficking, describes how they “chose to do cold soba noodles because it was unique.” “We chose LuRou because it’s a popular Taiwanese street food,” explains Janelle Wang, treasurer of Taiwanese Club. “Tailgate was, I would say, pretty successful. We raised around $120,” emphasizes So. “This year was definitely more successful than last year,” adds Catherine Salomon, secretary of Dragon Boat Club. Overall, tailgate was definitely a great success in terms of raising money as well as a wonderful promotional opportunity for clubs. |
